| By using a variety of inlaid colored porcelains, these potters achieve designs that are integral to the structure of their pieces rather than being painted on the surface. Here, two lizards with subtly patterned bodies peer down from the walls of the bowl to contemplate a tortoise bearing the symbol of yin and yang, the ancient Chinese principle of cosmic harmony. |
